The Darash Ahava Foundation may sound unique, but there’s intention behind it. Inspired by the beloved Book of Psalms, Darash and Ahava are two Hebrew words with powerful meanings.
Darash means “to search” or “to seek.” This idea of “searching” is essential to our mission: compassionate curiosity. As experts like Gabor Maté emphasize, compassionate inquiry helps us grow and heal. Through Darash, we continually seek a deeper understanding of ourselves, our spirituality, and the world around us.
Ahava means “love,” but a selfless, spiritual love rooted in service. Originating from hav (to give), true Ahava is about generosity, kindness, and building a life of gratitude. In our foundation, Ahava represents our dedication to supporting others, creating connection, and leading with purpose.
Together, these words form the heart of our foundation’s mission: a life of compassionate curiosity and loving service. And at the center of it all is Tikkun Olam-the belief that we are here to repair the world, one act of compassion at a time.
Our primary program, Brushstrokes of Emotion, is an art therapy experience combining meditative painting, group sharing, and compassionate community. Offered through the letsconnect.art platform, it serves individuals on their own journeys of self-discovery, trauma healing, and raising consciousness. Participants from all walks of life-from those facing anxiety and recovering from addiction to those seeking deeper self-understanding-find acceptance and connection in this safe, supportive space.
