The Darash Ahava Foundation brought Thanksgiving to Granada Park this November, hosting a free community Fall Festival that gave out over 250 turkeys to more than 200 families and fed roughly 1,000 people during a day of food, entertainment, and genuine community connection.
The event, held on the north side of the Granada Park parking lot at 20th and Maryland, was free and open to all ages. Families arrived to find a catered community lunch sponsored by The Jakobov Group, a massive obstacle course and bouncy house for children, a Thanksgiving-themed art zone, and a DJ keeping the atmosphere festive from start to finish. More than 250 frozen whole turkeys, reserved online in advance and distributed on site, were claimed by families across the Phoenix area before the afternoon was over.
Channel 3 (AZ Family) was on site and ran a live segment on local news, interviewing Foundation president David Widerhorn and program director Angela Sinagoga about the event and the Foundation's mission.
Sponsors and partners who supported the day made it possible to offer everything at no cost to attendees.
For the Darash Ahava Foundation, the Fall Festival was more than a community giveback. It reflected a simple belief: that connection, belonging, and care are things every family deserves, especially during the holidays.
"This is what Tikkun Olam looks like in practice," said Foundation president David Widerhorn. "Repairing the world one soul at a time, one family at a time, one Thanksgiving at a time."
Events like this one are made possible entirely through the generosity of donors and sponsors who believe in our healing mission.
